Erections. Orgasms. Masturbation. Porn. Desire. Intimacy. Relationships.
There's a lot more going on in a man's sexual life than what happens between the sheets.
Maybe you can get yourself off without a problem, but with your partner it's a different story.
Maybe you're masturbating more often than you're having sex with your partner. Not necessarily because you don't want them, but because somewhere along the way, things have changed.
Perhaps you're married, you love your partner, but you haven't had sex in months. Maybe years. You're living together, sharing a life, but the physical intimacy has slowly disappeared.
And neither of you really knows how to talk about it anymore.
Or perhaps you enjoy sex, you have an erection, everything feels good, but you just can't cum.
And now your wife thinks it's because you don't find her attractive anymore.
You're trying to reassure her that it isn't about her, but she's feeling rejected, you're feeling pressured, and suddenly something happening in your body is affecting both of you.
Sound familiar?
AND THEN THERE'S THE LITTLE PILLS.
Viagra. Cialis. Those little blue pills and their mates.
Maybe you've started buying them online without a prescription because the thought of talking to your GP about your erections is more uncomfortable than simply clicking add to cart.
Or maybe you've started taking them because the fear of not getting an erection, or losing it halfway through, has become bigger than the enjoyment of sex itself.
And then there's the bloke who absolutely loves them!
That rock-hard erection again. Feeling like the man. No worrying about whether your body's going to play along.
Woo hoo! We're good to go!
And hey, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a good erection. I totally get it!
But here's something worth understanding. Viagra and Cialis aren't miracle pills.
They can help improve blood flow and support an erection when you're sexually stimulated, but they don't automatically create desire, remove performance anxiety or fix what's happening in your relationship.
And sometimes, without even realising it, you start believing you can't perform without them.
So what started as a little extra reassurance can become something you feel you need every time. Perhaps you're even tempted to take more, chasing that same confidence.
But more isn't necessarily better. These medications have risks, and taking them without appropriate medical advice, especially from unverified online suppliers, isn't something to gamble with.
So is it your erection you're worried about losing, or the confidence you've attached to those little pills?
Now that's a conversation worth having.
LET'S TALK ABOUT PORN. AND YOUR BRAIN.
Ever wondered why you can spend ages scrolling through porn, moving from one video to another, even when you weren't particularly interested in having sex to begin with?
There's some fascinating science behind that too.
Your brain has a reward system involved in motivation, pleasure, learning and anticipation. And one of the chemicals involved is dopamine.
Now, dopamine isn't simply a pleasure chemical. It also plays an important role in wanting, seeking and anticipating something rewarding.
Sexual images and videos can activate these reward pathways, particularly when there's novelty, anticipation and something new to explore.
And let's face it, the internet has a never ending supply of something new.
For some men, repeatedly turning to porn becomes a familiar way of responding to boredom, stress, loneliness or simply having a spare five minutes.
But for others, it's something quite different.
Maybe you've been sexually rejected by your partner so many times that you've stopped initiating intimacy altogether. Not because you don't want them anymore, but because you're tired of feeling unwanted, embarrassed or knocked back.
And porn? Well, there's no rejection there. No awkward conversation. No wondering whether tonight's going to be another no.
But here's the thing. While porn might satisfy a sexual urge, it doesn't necessarily replace the intimacy, affection or feeling of being desired that you've been missing.
Over time, habits and learned associations can influence what gets your attention, what you anticipate and the circumstances in which you find it easiest to become aroused.
Maybe you've noticed that you can get an erection watching porn but struggle when you're with a partner.
Maybe you've started seeking different content, spending longer online than you intended or finding that masturbation has become your go-to instead of intimacy.
Does that mean porn has damaged your brain? No.
And it certainly doesn't mean every man who watches porn has a problem.
Research into pornography and sexual functioning is complex. Not every sexual difficulty is caused by porn, and not every man experiences it in the same way.
But if your habits are affecting your confidence, your relationship, your enjoyment of sex or your sense of control, they're worth having a conversation about.
Because sometimes the question isn't how often you're watching porn. It's what role it's playing in your life.
SO, WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT?
Whatever's going on for you.
Your erections, your sexual confidence, your habits, your marriage, your relationships, your experiences and the things you've never quite known how to put into words.
Maybe there's something you've never told anyone. Something you've been Googling at 2 am. Or something you've wanted to ask for years.
And let's face it, Google doesn't know you, your relationship or what's going on in your head.
And sometimes, nothing's actually wrong.
You're simply curious about your body, your sexual habits, what turns you on, what doesn't, or whether something you've been experiencing is normal.
You importantly, don't need to have a problem to have a conversation about sex.
There's no list of questions to prepare. And you don't need to have all the answers before you walk through my door.
We start wherever you are.
NO WHITE WALLED ROOMS. NO AWKWARD INTERROGATIONS.
I've spent over six years working with men, listening to conversations about their bodies, their sexual experiences, their kinks, their confidence, their relationships and everything in between.
And trust me, there's very little that surprises me anymore.
At VIKTOR, we're not sitting across a desk in some cold clinical office.
We're sitting in the lounge. Just you and me, having a conversation.
You can ask questions, laugh, swear, get something off your chest or admit you haven't got a bloody clue what's going on.
You don't have to impress me. You don't have to perform. And you don't have to pretend everything's fine when it isn't.
We'll explore what's happening, what might be contributing and how it's affecting you.
Sometimes that means understanding your body's responses. Sometimes it's about masturbation habits, sexual expectations, confidence, communication or the distance that's developed in a relationship.
And sometimes a change in sexual function deserves a medical assessment, because medication, circulation, hormones and other health factors can play a part too.
AND WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE TALK?
That depends on you.
You might leave with a better understanding of what's been happening, practical strategies to explore, a conversation you feel ready to have with your partner or a clearer idea of where to go next.
Maybe another session would be helpful. Maybe it's time to involve your GP. Or maybe you've finally been able to say something out loud that you've been carrying around for years.
I'm not here to tell you there's something wrong with you. I'm here to help you understand what's going on and what you can do about it.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
Men maintain their cars, their homes, their careers and just about everything else in their lives.
But their sexual wellbeing?
Too often, that's left alone until it's affecting their confidence, their relationship or how they feel about themselves.
I reckon we can do better than that.
Whether you're dealing with a sexless marriage, questioning your kinks, sexual habits, struggling with your erections or simply wondering why your body isn't responding the way it used to...
Let's chat about it.
